The Chocolate Waterfall – A Delectable Cocktail

Anyone that knows me will know I love three things…. Coffee, chocolate and a tipsy drink… Imagine my delight when I asked a wonderful friend Cheri Loughlin, a mixologist, cocktail maker extraordinaire if she could make a gorgeous cocktail with all three! And… yes. she produced a gorgeous recipe for us here. Without hesitation I shall pass you over to Cheri and this chocolate heaven.

From the desk of Cheri Loughlin..

When I was a little girl I loved candy and I loved to read. So the book, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl, was like the best of both worlds all wrapped up into one deliciously decadent candy bar wrapper.

It was the Golden Ticket so to speak. Willy Wonka’s out of this world imaginative chocolate factory left me craving waterfalls and rivers of velvety smooth, scrumptiously delectable chocolate.

Roald Dahl was a master of word use and imagery. He made chocolate magical. I would love to experience the sheer blissful joy Charlie felt as he took enormous bite after bite of the chocolate bar the shopkeeper gave him. I can only imagine the joy of feathery sweets that melt away deliciously the moment they touch my lips. This sort of luscious chocolate only exists in the world of the wondrous chocolate factory.

I have never come across a glorious river of seductive chocolate like I imagined when reading the book. The ultimate seductress of sinfully delicious treats has not lured me to a waterfall of rich, silken chocolate.

The Chocolate Waterfall in a glass

When Paul Steele invited me to write about a wonderful chocolate cocktail I was a bit stumped. I wanted to create a cocktail inspired by my fondest memories. Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with its chocolate waterfall always comes to mind when I think of the most decadent chocolate there could possibly be. Just imagine taking a dip in that river of chocolate!

The Chocolate Waterfall cocktail contains excellent coffee aroma with its light dusting of espresso powder. The flavor reminds me of the milk chocolate covered Bing cherries from Harry and David.

The cherries are dried to perfection, leaving them richly sweet, but not watery with juice like most chocolate covered cherries. This cocktail blends the richness of chocolate with the sweetness of plump, juicy cherries. It is my idea of the perfect chocolate covered cherry waterfall for Happy Hour. Enjoy!

This is just like a chocolaty fairy tale about a charming chocolate turns into a beautiful waterfall cocktail once it got kissed by sweet juicy liqueur of a cherry. 🙂
