A wonderful crumble is enjoyable as a treat or dessert at any time of the year. Relatively easy to make this Apple, Pear and Blueberry crumble is delicious accompanied with custard or ice cream. You may of course like to vary the fruit to your choice as well.

A crumble dessert is completely different to a pie or tart in that you get to use a whole lot more fruit and top it with a lovely buttery and crispy top.

You will need:

1 x 8″ round, glass baking dish

Ingredients

  • Fruit
  • 125 g Blueberries

  • 4 x Eating Apples

  • 4 x Pears

  • 50 g sugar

  • Crumble
  • 100 g Plain Flour

  • 40 g Rolled Oats

  • 60 g Butter

  • 70 g Demerara Sugar

Directions

  • Slice and core the apples and pears and then chop into chunks and place them in a pan with a little water and stew until slightly soft- leave this to cool.

  • To make the crumble put the flour and oats into a bowl with the chilled butter and rub between your fingers until it looks like breadcrumbs.crumble mix
  • Stir in the demerara sugar.
  • Stir in the white sugar into the stewed pears and apples and add the blueberries then pour this into your glass bowl
  • Gently cover the top with your crumble mix
  • Bake in the oven on 160 degrees ( fan) or 180 degrees for 30 minutes or until the fruit is boiling and the top is golden brown
  • Serve with Ice Cream, Cream or Custard.
