  • For the cake
  • 8 oz self raising flou

  • 8 oz Margarine

  • 8 oz caster sugar

  • 4 eggs (beaten)

  • 2 tablespoons of chocolate powder

  • 1-2 oranges ( depending on the size)

  • For the filling
  • 8 oz dark or milk chocolate

  • Grate the orange peel into the bowl and mix in.
  • Grease and line a loaf tin, then pour in your mixture
  • Place in a pre-heated oven at 180 degrees and cook for 1 hour
  • While your cake is cooking, it is now time to make your chocolate ganache filling.
  • Break up your chocolate into small pieces and place in a heat proof bowl.
  • Pour your cream into a small saucepan and heat until it boils.
  • When the cream is boiling, take it off the heat and pour into the bowl of chocolate.
  • Stir in the chocolate and cream until it is all mixed together with no lumps.
  • Leave this to cool while your cake is cooking.
  • When the cake is cooked, turn it out of the pan and leave to cool
  • Cut your loaf in half and spread half with orange curd and half with ganache and sandwich together
  • If you have any ganache left you can use this to garnish the top and add some grated orange peel.

Looks delicious and will definitely try it. Love chocolate cake and the orange twist will make it even better tasting.
However do you have the Nutritional information for the cake per 100 grams?

    Many thanks

  2. This recipe looks unbelievably delicious, but I have a few USA questions.

What are chocolate powder and caster sugar?
Is it 8 oz by weight or is it one cup of flour, margarine and sugar?
Can I use butter instead of margarine?
Can I use regular (not “self-raising”) flour and add baking powder (or soda, or both)?
Is single cream the same thing as heavy cream or half-and-half?

    Thank you!
