keto Pizza

I started my keto journey over 4 years ago and have never looked back. Initially you go through all the what can I have and what can I not have scenarios. Before long you get into the swing of what is good and what is bad on the ketogenic diet.

Yes I have stated before that when doing keto properly you lose all lust and cravings for things you normally love, chocolate, crisps, fruit and other naughty foods like chips, and bread based pizza!

Over the time I have made myself many variations of pizza that use keto friendly ingredients. It is basically just getting a crust you like. I do cheesier ones, more eggy varieties, it is all a matter of taste.

I will show some in future posts on here for sure. I thought I would start a keto pizza run with an easy but texture filled one here.

The beauty of this pizza base recipe is you can use this to make as crispy or non crispy as you desire. It is not soggy though either.

Toppings

This is up to you, just be keto friendly of course. Here I have used a bit of full fat tomato puree on the base. Lots of grated cheese, pepperoni and a few spots of pesto.

Note: Be careful with buying tomato puree as some brands go mad with sugars and carbs to make people like it more. Check labels as ever.

Ingredients

  • 150 g Almond Flour (or coconut flour if you prefer)

  • 150 g grated full fat cheddar cheese

  • 2 eggs

  • 30 g of butter

  • 2 tbsp sour cream

  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder

  • salt to taste

Directions

  • Pre heat the oven to 200 C (gas mark 6).
  • Melt the butter then add it in a bowl to the eggs and sour cream.
  • Blend or whisk all these ingredients together.
  • Separately, in another bowl, mix together the almond flour with the garlic powder and after that mix together with the wet mixture you made previously. Here you add the grated cheese and stir everything until you get a dough.
  • Now time to roll and flatten the dough into your desired pizza base shape. The dough will be wet so roll between 2 sheets of grease proof baking paper.
  • Once you have your desired thickness you remove the top paper and bake on a baking tray.
  • Place in the oven and bake for 10 to 15 minutes. This is where you can really set how crispy you want your base.
  • Take out of the oven when ready and load with your desired toppings.
  • Then put back in the oven for 5 to 10 minutes or until your cheese is how you want it.

Done. Enjoy your pizza!

Banging. If it tastes as good as it sounds I’m in. Pizza was my biggest downfall when I was ‘on’ carbs.
