It was time for a new adventure. I had done the long haul bit, UK to Entebbe, Uganda. Now to head West to the Bwindi Impenetrable Rainforest. A more fun flight was in order, a flight in a caravan plane across country at a low level. From Entebbe to Kihihi, a small village before the drive to the jungle..
I was so excited to be on my way to see Mountain Gorillas in the wild. But that does not take into account that the whole journey could be a super adventure as ever. The trip was kindly organised by The Insurance Emporium. And it was going to be a trip of a lifetime, even for me. Well, the flight started amazingly….. Taking off from the shores of Lake Victoria 🙂
These internal caravan plane trips I do truly love, especially when flying over the varied and different landscapes of Africa. I remember so fondly a similar trip in Tanzania a few years back. The seating is just for 11 people which makes it very comfortable for a little plane and the fact that you are not at the height of jets you see so much more below. The flight time from Entebbe to Kihihi was around 1 hour 10. Plenty of time to look out in wonder.
The greens contrasting the browns was a stark reminder that we were flying in the proximity of the equator. It might be hot but it can rain a lot too amongst the hot sunshine. This was more evident when you see the mountain ranges of central Africa in the distances.
I was getting ever closer to the mountain gorillas too. Already an exciting trip. The journey there makes it even more special. I do always believe that there is so much more than what you specifically go to do. Take it all in and enjoy every minute. Make new friends along the way.
Time to prepare for landing. The dusty runway of Kihihi ahead and below.
It was a joy of a flight and really wet my appetite to see more of Uganda. The next leg was to be by road to the rainforest. The story continues!
